All,

I’m confused about the ALA/LC romanization table for Judeo-Arabic (HCM 2019, p.
78). Note 1 (p. 80) says this is a one-to-one representation of the
consonants. My first word starts with an alif used as a consonant. Note 1
doesn’t indicate how to romanize this. The first word of the publisher has an
ayn in it which also acts as a consonant.

My title is:
אמתאל אל דאודייה: כסם תאני

Place and publisher:
בג'דאד : מטבעת אל וטנייה

I believe it is part of this set OCLC #233093803 but my publisher is different
(indicated as “ועד” in the publisher statement in the NLI record). I can at
least derive this record but I’m stuck on the romanization.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Caroline
