Hi, folks, forwarding for those who work with rare materials and may be
interested in presenting in a broader venue (in addition to, not instead of at
AJL 😉). Thanks, and best wishes for a כתיבה וחתימה טובה, Jasmin From:

Subject: [OCLC-CAT] RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee Seeks Topics for
RBMS 2026 Conference Presentations

Colleagues,
The Bibliographic Standards Committee (BSC) of the ACRL* Rare Books and
Manuscripts Section (RBMS) is committed to increasing programming related to
cataloging, metadata, and technical services at RBMS conferences. Currently, we
are seeking topics within these three areas to pursue for the RBMS 2026
Conference, which will take place from June 23-26 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and
online.
We recognize that proposal writing can be time-consuming, especially if you’ve
not done it before. If you have a topic idea and are willing to write a session
proposal, BSC's Program Planning Group will provide assistance and guidance in
drafting the proposal. We would like to have potential topics by Friday,
October 10th, 2025. BSC will then decide which topics to pursue and we will
reach out to presenters to begin drafting proposals for eventual submission to
the RBMS 2026 Conference.
Please fill out this
form<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScTwe2iE3Q18j98vJGLijcMna69wiskvQyvfM75XRJ8am8jZw/viewform?usp=header__;!!IBzWLUs!T7z01EbJ4tQW0WNg-6Wdh_FL2nmxMad-dhwojM1oAT1NuN_AbE0ufltLMOu9Lwl8Az-xTVTFUvqtPGOpnG5LH88hzuNcCQ$>
if you have a potential topic that you would like to present. This form will
not go to the RBMS 2026 Conference Planning Committee. It can be less formal
than an official conference proposal and include ideas that you are still
working through.
If you submit a topic, here is the full timeline for working with BSC on your
topic:
October 10th: Topics due to BSC.
October 29th - November 5th: BSC votes on all submitted topics. BSC’s Program
Planning Group will remove identifying information from the proposals. BSC will
pursue up to four topics.
Early November: Topic proposers are notified if BSC is pursuing their topic or
not. Proposers of successful topics will be able to ask BSC’s Program Planning
Group for assistance in writing their proposal.
Late November or Early December: Two weeks before the deadline for the RBMS
Conference, proposals are due to BSC via BSC’s Program Planning Group. BSC will
have access to anonymous proposals and vote to endorse them or not endorse them.
Mid-December: Proposers submit proposals through the RBMS 2026 Conference
website. For the past two years, RBMS proposals were due in Mid-December. At
this point, the RBMS Conference Planning Committee will make decisions about
proposals and BSC cannot make any more decisions about the proposals.
