Subject: [SACOLIST] Announcement from the Library of Congress (February 4, 2026)
The Library of Congress (LC) is ready to resume SACO work. SACO work (and work
on other external proposals and projects) was paused as of April 7, 2025, to
allow the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs (PTCP) Division to focus
on LC's ILS migration.
What does this mean:
* Starting with list 2508 (August 2025), SACO proposals will be
reintroduced to routine monthly list processing.
* Proposals on lists from August 2025-December 2025 will still be split
onto separate “CIP/Internal” and “External” LCSH and LCC tentative lists;
however, all tentative lists for a given month will be reviewed and processed
simultaneously.
* With lists for January 2026 onwards, CIP/Internal/External proposals
will appear on a single LCSH or LCC tentative list, as is normal practice.
* During the months of February-April 2026, PTCP will release a steady
flow of LCSH and LCC tentative lists to get our publishing schedule back on
track.
* PTCP will start processing the backlog of SACO proposals from list 2410
(October 2024) through list 2507 (July 2025). These lists will be published as
they are ready and may appear out of order.
* LCMPT, LCDGT, LCGFT, and CYAC will also resume processing of SACO and
other external proposals. Some Advisory Group meetings have already resumed,
and new tentative lists will appear within the next month.
* Paused SACO project work will resume.
* Quarterly Editorial Meetings will resume in April 2026.
Thank you for your patience during the SACO work pause! Please contact
