OK, jumping on the bandwagon :-)

Here are two questions that I would like to hear Mr. Schultz's opinion on.

1. Localized version vs. a recent version.

While talking to users who want to install OOo, I noticed a common dilemma- Should they install the localized version (currently at 1.1.0), which is in their mother tongue, or should they install a newer version (currently 1.1.3), which has many bug fixes.

I am sure users of other languages face the same dilemma. I wonder if there any changes that can be made that will help solve this problem- perhaps some better way of handling translations in order to make it easier for l10n projects to keep up to date?

2. I18n/l10n bugs lost in the shuffle in IssueZilla

Bugs, even major bugs, regarding Hebrew tend to get a low priority, so many times important issues for the Israeli market do not get taken care of, and Hebrew speaking users get left behind.
Two random examples:
* Right-To-Left sheets in calc- http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=13159
A major feature for RTL users, which was reported by be on April 2003. A fix was created a almost year later- March 2004, while users will get to see it only when OOo 2.0 will be released in 2005.
That is two years to get a very basic an important functionality for Hebrew/Arabic/Farsi/RTL users.
* Export from Impress/draw to flash- http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=17514
This features is currently completely broken for Hebrew- if you use Hebrew (or Arabic), this feature doesn't exist for you. I reported the issue in July 2003. Target milestone currently set: OOo later, so this feature will still be broken in OOo 2.0.

Having major issues like that take so long until the users will be able to see a fix is extremely frustrating. Is there anyway to have such issues get more attention, and not have the users wait literally years until they see a fix? Voting for the bug isn't really useful, as while many users are affected by the problem, when you add the complexity of IssueZilla to the fact that it is in English, you are going to get very few votes.

I really would like to hear your take on these issues.
Thanks a lot for joining us and giving us your time :-)
