Dear Hebrew OOo list members,
Tk Open Systems will be releasing a beta testing version of OOo 2.0 for Windows only on November 1.

This release is for community testing only and will not be supported. The purpose of this release is to obtain feedback from the community.

There will be no Hebrew 2.0 release, due to recently introduced multiple show-stopper bugs in the RTL functionality of 2.0, particularly in the Unix style platforms.

The next Hebrew OOo release will be 2.01, which is planned for the first week in December. The 2.01 release will include support for Windows and Linux. Solaris and Mac will not be released. Hebrew and English language packs for Windows and Linux will be released.

The Hebrew OOo 2.0 testing release and the 2.01 production release will include the Culmus fonts and the Hspell spelling checker. The Masterfont fonts included in previous versions of OOo distributed by Sun Microsystems Israel will be discontinued.

In accordance with recent licensing changes at OOo, Hebrew OOo will be released under the GPL license until further notice. Non-viral open source licensing is available by special request (and for a fee) from Tk Open Systems).

Tk Open Systems will offer telephone support for OOo 2.01 for a charge of NIS 90 per year per user. Free telephone support will be discontinued due to the withdrawal of Sun Microsystems Israel from the Hebrew Open Office project.

Support for the 2.0 and 2.01 versions is provided by the Government of Israel Ministry of Finance Tehilla project under the management of Boaz Dolev and auspices of Itzik Cohen.

Best regards for a profitable and peaceful year,

 - yba

Jonathan Ben-Avraham
CEO, Tk Open Systems Ltd.
