Hi Ely,
OOo 2.0 from openoffice.org.il differs from OOo 2.0 from openoffice.org in several respects:

a) a more complete translation
b) more Hebrew bug fixes
c) specific localization features

We (Tk Open Systems Ltd.) have contributed our bug fixes and translations up to our most recent release of OOo back to openoffice.org in the form of IssueZilla issues. However, there is a delay of up to several months at openoffice.org in integrating our submissions into the OOo code base. The fixes are not submitted as patches, but as whole source files. Some of our fixes are in fact workarounds that will not be integrated into OOo.

The specific localization features include hspell related features, Culmus fonts, RTL default settings and other features. These features cannot be included in the OOo code base maintained by openoffice.org. Tk Open Systems will provide these upon request.

I don't know what you mean by "developer list". We post frequently to the openoffice.org l10n, and dev lists.

"The translators" is me, Jonathan Ben-Avraham. You can contact me off list about specific translation issues.

Regarding contributions from the public - it seems to me that the best way to involve the public at this point would be to set up a wikipedia infrastructure for translations of the help texts. This would only require contributors to be proficient in OOo and have some writing ability.

In order to contribute to the programming, you have to invest a very large amount to time in learning the OOo infrastructure, and then you have to have the computing resources to do builds. I would be happy to contribute a Tinderbox build environment online if there are programmers who can learn OOo by themselves and make contributions to the code.
Regards,

 - yba

Hey,
Would there be a difference between the released 2.02 from openoffice.org
and openoffice.org.il? If so would it be completly merged at some point?
Is there a place where I can download the patchs from? (couldn't find them
on the site)
What developer list does the project use?
Is there a place where one can talk to the translators?

Ely

P.S
I think having this info on the site would get more people to contribute
