Hi Yitzchak,

For each version of OOo I tested, I used the spadmin program to install the same FreeSans font.
I downloaded the font from
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/freefont/freefont-ttf.zip
If I open any of the other three versions of OOo, aleph-lameds are fine. If I switch to the Debian version, I get your bug. I went through the settings in the Options menu on the Debian OOo, and played around with them, but nothing helped.

Hi Alan,

Are you sure it is something in their OOo build?
Maybe it has to do with their version of the
FreeSans font, or something else external.
Can you test this?

a) Hebrew 2.0 from OpenOffice.org.il
b) English 2.0 from OpenOffice.org
c) English 2.0.1 from OpenOffice.org
d) Debian OOo package 2.0.0-5 (English)

I saw the problem that you reported in the latest Debian OOo package. I
did not see the problem using any of the other packages that I tested.
So it appears to be a problem with the Debian package, but I don't know
what it might be.

the letters alef and lamed ALWAYS combine into
a combination character. It does not matter what
order I type the letters in, or what they are surrounded
by. It even happens if I type alef and lamed separated
by a different letter, and then delete the different letter.
