Hi all,
The overall response to the "Getting Started" docs I recently added has
been overwhelmingly positive, but I did get one important piece of
feedback: it requires too much commitment before you see anything
happen. I chose an example config that shows off a number of real world
Heka use cases, which is great, but it means you have to understand
quite a bit before you actually see anything working.
I took that to heart and added a new piece to the beginning of the
section that shows off the most trivial Heka config I could think of,
reading in a single file from the file system and writing the contents
out to stdout:
http://hekad.readthedocs.org/en/dev/getting_started.html#simplest-heka-config
If you started working your way through the original Getting Started
docs but found them a bit daunting, take a look at the new piece I've
added and see if that helps out at all.
Cheers,
-r
