Cfengine does not integrate directly with CVS or SVN for the following reason.
Developing the promises for a release is a dialogue between (some freely chosen) version control and the tester, but releasing a tested policy into a live system *must* be a human action, for which an individual takes responsibility. It's like pushing the launch button. I really do not want to make it easy to trivialize this operation by linking cfengine in with a versioning system. That said, it is trivial to copy the latest revision into your policy dissemination point. When changes are made to system files, cfengine keeps backups or timestamped versions in situ or in a repository.
