Bryan,

I think you're right that generation and management of such a file could
be difficult and, IMHO, would create a fair amount of bloat in the
policy files. It's a nice idea in theory to be able to generate such a
"report", but I think making use of Cfengine's native knowledge
management features (we're using Nova) is the better approach for our
environment.

Well, a simple hack would be to create a file with a list of all the
files managed by cfengine (e.g. /etc/cfengine_files).  It would be 
somewhat of a pain to make sure your cfengine rules always add to this
file, or that you properly keep it updated, but it would work.
