really? :-( ain't got it? 1.) so you suggest copying a template file to the client 2.) edit the values (there will still be different values to edit...) 3.) than copying the file onto the target that's it? (that I could do without a template just by copying the original file to the "edit-space" and than back??) Why(???) is my aproached "non convergent"? Is there a thread that cfengine3 might stumble over multiple promises on the same object? (before cfengine I used "input-file > sed > output-file, mv output-file > input-file" and again with the next regex key/value pair; dead slow but just worked :-/ Sorry for beeing so "hard-headed" but it shouldn't "just work somehow", I like to understand how and why ;-) ... This topic hasn't jumped into my view yet by getting familiar with the docu on the cfengine site... any tips for background infos on the promise theory or convergence in general?
