The problem was on a NIS client, not on a NIS server. The NIS client had somehow lost its binding, but cfengine continued to process NIS netgroups, but now receiving different (empty) contents for its lookups. The fact that NIS (on this NIS client) ought to have been bound, but wasn't, ought to have been transmitting an error condition towards 'cfengine', which ought then to have been detecting that error condition. But instead, it seems that something, somewhere was forgetting the error condition, so that cfengine proceeded as though all was well, but with an empty (or similar) netgroup. As I say, this was a few years ago on v2 of cfengine. Still, if any of the v3 developers are reading this, they might wish to do a quick code-check... _______________________________________________ Help-cfengine mailing list Help-cfengine@cfengine.org https://cfengine.org/mailman/listinfo/help-cfengine
