Neil & Jesse, Thanks for bringing this information to our attention. I wasn't aware of this particular aspect of Cfengine, and will be very, very interested in learning more about how to apply it. We use Nagios quite extensively, but as you've pointed out, what is a high load average on a generic server, could be considered very low on another server - such as a CentOS/Fedora Core repo serving thousands of requests per minute. To inject some sanity into monitoring, I must now turn my attention to Cfengine cf-monitord. Where to begin? What would be the best place to start to learn about Cfengine monitoring tools? Until now, we've only really used it for configuration management.
