Brian, The REST API is indeed read-only for the moment. Controlling CFEngine is essentially achieved by updating its inputs, either policy files or data files read by those policies (i.e. CDP input files, file templates, etc.). So there's not much of a need for an API - you make the changes, and within 5 minutes the agents will start picking up the changes and executing any necessary actions. There is also the CFEngine Design Center, which allows you to deploy pre-made components called "sketches", and which you simply configure, activate and use. This is much more like a higher-level API than writing CFEngine policy.
