For the record, got lazy and just changed to this ...
"/etc/sysctl.conf"
edit_line =>
replace_or_add("^\s*net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_time\s*=.*",
"net.ipv4.tcp_keepalive_time = 1200"),
comment => "Adjust default TCP keepalive timeout.";
It works for now.
