This seems kinda like a kludge. Anyone have any better suggestions for monitoring the number of files in a directory?
I've seen this monitored with a custom SNMP MIB monitored by nagios. Nagios can be setup with triggers to do the initiate the cleanup if you are willing to set it up (e.g. setup a user to ssh in and cleanup the mess via sudo).
Which is also a kludge.
