I tried something similar a month or two ago, but couldn't make it work.
I didn't bother checking it out, since the feature proved worthless to
me anyway. I wanted to do some abstraction, but since I couldn't make
the method return a custom class for each invocation it was useless.

As far as I can see, you should. It looks like a bug to me.
