Is there a reason you are compiling it and not using an RPM? It
looks like the fedora extras package of cfengine is available for
CentOS4 (RHEL4) here:
http://centos.karan.org/
If you point yum to that (see instructions on web page), you should
be able to do a 'yum install cfengine'.
As for your error - do you have flex installed?
