Yes. I'm using Perl + Text::Template. The stuff I do is at
http://arpmats.sourceforge.net/ and click cfengine-masterconf.
Also, in response to the original question, I think editfiles
changes are probably the most requested major enhancement here. No doubt
they will change in version 3.0 For various people's take on what should
happen to editfiles, look in the wishlist on the wiki. The editfiles
section of the wishlist got so large that I moved it to a separate page.
