The problem (mentioned in the docs) is with nfs. NFS code is in the kernel. If cfengine is asked to use NFS then *nothing* it or anyone else can do can recover from an NFS hang until NFS itself recovers, because NFS has kernel privileges. This is not a cfengine problem, it's an NFS problem. SOrry.
