Perhaps Windows programs read the keyboard differently from Linux programs.
It might be interesting to try the Cygwin version of Emacs, which should be
more like the Linux version.

I think that when I installed gnuserv I just put gnuserv.exe in a directory
in my path and added a couple of lines to my .emacs, so uninstalling is just
the inverse.  I don't think the version of gnuserv that I was using (the
1997 implementation by Nico François) needed any registry entries or
anything complicated.
