Sorry, I couldn't reproduce his approach. It was pretty tricky, if memory serves, and required nonstandard addons to Firefox. It's better not to assume Firefox with nonstandard addons. If you'd like to email out just one base URL, it could be to a static page that you maintain, which lists recent releases with file-specific URLS. That way, users can easily choose which release to download, without having to use proprietary JavaScript or a specially-configured browser.
