I come up with another feature request. What if --version string could be
customized somehow (without patching gengetopt) to print more info about the
product eg. compilaton date intended OS version?
$ scan --version
scan 1.4.0 (2007-10-10) for Linux x86

actually --version can be customized by using --no-handle-version; or
did you mean something else?
