Hello Jeffrey, it would be helpful if you could create a project on https://github.com/ or http://sourceforge.net/ and host your release and development versions there using Git as a revision control software.
Git would allow other users to keep track of the changes, and to develop patches and to propose these to you. Furthermore university accounts tend to be deleted after you quit the university.
