\shape syntax problem with 1.2

Just to mention that I get a syntax error with
\paper{\shape 0.0 188.0; ... }
and everything else I can think of with 1.2

I've pulled back to 1.1.60 and gone back to
\paper{\shape=0.0 188.0 \mm; ...}
which works fine.
