a) I have an similar problem when compiling Lilypond-1.2.17,
but besides that it runs fine.
b) Maarten, can you please explain in more details, how to look for
Microsoft Windows's multitasking capabilities when writing to a
floppy disk. What outstanding happens ?
Really I don't know what to look for.
