1.)
lilypond-1.2.17 under SuSE Linux 6.3 (PC with AMD K6-3)
avaliable as binary patch to 6.3 ("official" replacement to lilypond-1.2.16-4
which crashed):
Font feta seems out of order.
Noteheads show up as Fermata, violin cleff as small start, etc.
Trying to download source lilypond-1.2.17.tar.gz:
Compilation and installation into /usr/local worked out of the box :-)
except Documentation (tampers with texinfo) . :-(
Same errors in output. :-(
2.)
Trying to install lilypond-1.2.17 (and in former time some older versions)
on DEC UNIX (COMPAQ Alpha, TrueUnix V4.0E):
(/usr/local/bin at 1st place of PATH; installed flex, bison, guile, gnumake etc)
- Replacement of /bin/sh by something like /usr/local/bin/bash necessary. :-[
bash as /usr/local/bin/sh not sufficient; must replace /bin/sh ! 8-[
- Compiler errors in string.cc when calling memmem
(char *) vs (Byte *) that expands to (unsigned char *)
- problems installing Documentation (may be due to improper installation
of texinfo etc)
I remember some former version that, if succeeding, produces either no
noteheads or correct noteheads , depending on setting the correct fontpath.
Since it is impossible for foreign people to trace what is going on inside
stepmake, as well as to understand the output of lilypond -d ,
I can't help you locating these errors.
PS.
I am an amateur organist and would like to use lilypond to prepare
choral intonations for use in church.
