i'm not trying to discourage the OP from using gnucap.

in a way it depends on what he wants to do. for example, if
simulation of any kind is involved, as you imply, gnucap is a good
choice. maybe i'm just ignorant of what 'resistor network reduction'
really is.

i'm fairly interested. lets talk about details on gnucap-devel.
