From the responses so far, guess that's not going to happen.
A useful alternative would to replace replace distro id
derived menu entry with label of partition on which it
resides.
I frequently make multiple installs of a distro, but with
SIGNIFICANTLY different parameters.
How is the text of the menu entries determined?
