You're using an old version of parted or some other partitioning tool. Anything 
recent for a few years should set the first partition to LBA 2048. So I'd 
either rebuild the array, or boot from a separate /boot partition which will 
make linux deal with the array assembly instead of grub, or just not upgrade 
grub from legacy.
