I use "grub" command to access files before file system support is not available. Or while file system is partially corrupted (i.e. cannot be mounted)

The "grub" command in grub legacy was most commonly used as a (rather clunky) way to install grub legacy to the boot sector and embedding area of a drive. To install grub2 you should use grub-install.
