problem booting

I have a hp spectrex360 15t laptop.

When I have a optical usb mouse plugged in and boot the laptop the GRUB 
screen freezes at the GRUB menu not allowing me to boot to anything.

If I take out the usb mouse adapter GRUB works fine.
