I am not using Suse, on my Mandriva box I have as standard installed :

rpm -qa |grep gsl
libgsl0-devel-1.8-2mdk
gsl-doc-1.8-2mdk
libgsl0-1.8-2mdk
gsl-progs-1.8-2mdk
