I don't have a lot of help to offer other than to say I have a Macbook 4,1 and I have the same issue. I work around it by rebooting as infrequently as possible, but of course that's not a real soution. If you do want to spend more time working at it I think we want only the libinput driver and not the other ones, but I haven't tried actually working on it so much.
