Hi everyone, Arun organised an amazing guix meetup at the barbican estate (Star Wars Andor shooting location) in London. Some of the things I walked away with:
1) Adoption felt a lot more widespread then I had realized. It's not just academia, some recognisable commercial names using it. Usage ranged from running whole corporate fleets to individual developers trying to streamline their workflow. Publicising this fact would be a good thing. 2) Some challenges (good ones to have) - While the package repository is growing well, making sure packages stay upto date, finding people who know guix and war stories of substitutes that don't work in random situations. 3) Avoiding Capture/Redhat style outcomes while creating incentives for people to work on Guix. Can't wait for the next one. Here is a simplex link so we can stay in touch https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=1-2&smp=smp%3A%2F%2F1OwYGt-yqOfe2IyVHhxz3ohqo3aCCMjtB-8wn4X_aoY%3D%40smp11.simplex.im%2FYcWYc89ukwLl_CMqpC0O4SxDsuBpCEh-%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-2%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEAt-w3xHjdpAaNLqOfwk4LZGxCSaO3wBzohb42u2XWTQE%253D%26srv%3D6ioorbm6i3yxmuoezrhjk6f6qgkc4syabh7m3so74xunb5nzr4pwgfqd.onion&data=%7B%22type%22%3A%22group%22%2C%22groupLinkId%22%3A%22egaEhBwx45aiB_KIZ9Z_TA%3D%3D%22%7D Thanks, Hafeez
