I don't know how to call it in English.

The menu at the bottom/or up, or left, or right, as somebody wants


This line does not come up, it wants to come up but can't.
So, there is always a process of change
and you can't use the mouse to click on anything.

Even if you do a : Contr+alt+T
to open a terminal,
it does not happen.

This means, AFAIU it,
the GUI cannot be made,
it can't get to a stable state
so that I can start to do something.

after updating packages and a sudo guix system reconfigure
/etc/convig.scm yesterday and today
still MATE Desktop does not work.

The menu line at the bottom comes and disapears every second,
that's why the GUI is impossible to use.

I am not sure which menu line you mean. I made a new Guix installation on
Saturday or Sunday (now not 100% sure which day exactly) with MATE as only
desktop environment, so far it seems to behave as expected, I did not notice
any problem.

I am just wondering what I could put in a guile configuration file
(/etc/config.scm, or another one) that I could reuse upon a new Guix
installation so that my settings made via MATE GUI or via
gsettings/dconf are back without the need to redo them manually.

At the moment I am using KDE Desktop.

Yes, I tried KDE too, it works well. I'd be interest to learn a method to do
this with KDE too.
