`guix pull` apparently not pulling

Lately, doing `guix pull` doesn't seem to actually pull the most recent 
commits from the Guix repo. It never notifies of any new commits, and 
always says to be building from commit 8e8681b, the commit my profile is 
at. So I'm not getting any updates.

What could be going on here?
