Both aplay and pavucontrol list no devices at all. I did find out that
the Lenovo sound card I'm using needs something called Sound Open
Firmware, so I'll see if I can crack packaging firmware. Thank you for
the help.

Hello,
I'm struggling to get audio working on Guix. I am on a laptop, but the
system detects neither the built-in speakers nor any external output
device I attach to it. I have installed pipewire-home-service with the
default configuration but it hasn't helped. What can I try? I am on
commit d1e9e23.
can your machine see available audio devices?
Run `aplay --list-devices` (from alsa-utils package) and in `pavucontrol`.
You could select a audio profile in pavucontrol and then set volume if
the audio devices are fine. If there are no devices, you can search for
some information with your audio card, maybe it's not supported by the
linux kernel.
