I have been trying to get Hurd up and running for a
little while now but I have been running into a
problem. I currently run Suse Linux and have set up
everything correctly there (I believe). I have set up
the /gnu directory, set up the .deb's, etc. I also
can see everything inside of /gnu, including
/boot/gnumach.gz. No probelm yet.
When I reboot with my grub disk, I set root=(hd1,0).
The partition HURD is on is on a separate hard drive
from my Linux drive. Anyway, I feel pretty sure the
problem is not there because when I type "kernel=/"
and then TAB, I see the contents of what was in the
/gnu directory, not that of my Linux directory. But
when I type "kernel=/boot/" and TAB, or any directory
for that matter, all I get is
"Bad file or directory type"
So while I can see the directories in /gnu, I cannot
see the files contained within these directories. On
the other hand, I can traverse my Linux drive when I
set root to hd0,0 and I can see the files there
(though not in /dev for some reason).
I was not sure if I am doing something wrong of if
this is a hardware issue. Any ideas? Thanks.
