It may have been unnecessary to go through all the stuff I did but I wanted to make sure that things worked properly. I got version 1.12 of the e2fsprogs from the site: ftp://tsx-11.mit.edu/pub/linux/packages/ext2fs/old/ In source form. I then configured it so that it would install in /usr/local/hurd/. I built and installed the e2fsprogs package. Then I reset root's path to have /usr/local/hurd/bin and /usr/local/hurd/sbin take precedence and did: mke2fs -o hurd /dev/hdb1 Yes, I could have specified the path to mke2fs on the command line, however if mke2fs makes calls to other tools in the e2fsprogs suite, I wasn't sure where it would get them. After that procedure above the process is exactly the same as in the installation guide. --Eric. > > Hi! > I am also facing same problem..
