So wouldn't it be preferable to have the code from the OSKit used by GNU Mach merged into GNU Mach? The necessary code could also be copied (and adjusted) from the Linux kernel. Provided that someone would do the work, wouldn't this be the better way?
Given that in most cases there is no reason for someone to build custom GNU Mach, I don't think it's worth the effort. Additionally, most people that hack Mach say that it (hacking Mach) is nightmare.
The best way is to move to L4, which won't happen soon, especially when so small amount of people work on this.
