I'm not sure what to say. I've never tried using either customs or PVM
myself, so I can't be of much help. I know some people have used them
before and they have worked. I haven't seen any recent patches to allow
PVM, but they weren't complex.
I'm not really very surprised that the "make check" fails for pvm (or
even customs); those tests have never been tried under a distributed
build at all. There's a very real chance they won't work. I'd need to
see details about exactly how they failed (the contents of the work
directory, for example) to comment further.
Does PVM work during normal make, or does it fail?
