GNU make comes with a test suite, in the tests subdirectory. On UNIX,
anyway, you can simply run "make check" after building make; I know the
test suite works on Windows (you must have Perl installed) but I'm not
100% sure if you can invoke it via "make check".
Also, I don't know what Cygwin includes in its version of GNU make,
which is slightly different than the "normal" official GNU make from the
FSF.
