Ah, its a vicious circle isn't it - gcc 3.1 writes dwarf2 which needs v5.1.1 of gdb/insight which needs the incrTcl package and that needs a beta/experimental version of make... which I can't compile because I don't have unix :-(
Could you let me know the versions of autoconf/automake and gettext you are using please, as I can probably compile newer versions of these within Cygwin.
