Yes, the intention is to allow the Guile extension. However, currently the extension would be limited in what it could do, because make is somewhat limited in how it handles expanded variables and functions.
So, the first step (for the next release) will not be to embed Guile but rather to extend make's capabilities in this respect; the release after that will perhaps address and embedded scripting language. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul D.
