I have tried with bash-4-rc1 and this problem goes away. SIGTERM kills all
processes in bash 4, and the processes substitution does return immediately
and no longer waits for the sleep to end. bash 4 must have improved signal
handling.
What I said above does not work all the time and I do not understand why.
