That was indeed a TAB. I have removed it. Now working fine.

use 'ifndef one' instead of 'ifndef $(one)' - the form you're using
will be true if the value of $(one) isn't defined.

I was/am bit confused here. When to use var and when $(var) with ifdef
... ?
