What is the value of "RM"?
Sorry, I should have included that in the original e-mail.
rm is defined as:
GNUTOOLS := c:\progra~1\GnuWin32
RM := $(GNUTOOLS)\bin\rm.exe -f
Does it help to use forward slashes, both in GNUTOOLS and in RM? You
may need to include $(RM) in quotes then, like this:
$(shell "$(RM)" $3 $(__a))
Surprisingly that does seem to have done the trick (sans quotes).
Many thanks Eli!
