just FWIW, you did not actually propose anything, per se - a proposal would describe a concrete actionable plan - this was more of a friendly nudge, and an appreciated one
the conversation has been on=going since october when debian dropped support for GTK2, which made gnu-smalltalk builds fail - the fact that there have been no new releases in recent years was not a problem until then - debian could have fixed their builds, if only they disabled its GTK support - the problem in debian is that the package no longer has a maintainer i dont believe that there is any concern of leadership upstream - the maintainer is attentive and has been involved in the discussions - work has started this year on a new release
