Dear texinfo people,
Just I have installed the thoroughly renewed texinfo-4.0 because ddd-3.2.1
refused to work with an older version of `info.
Having updated the related `info menue entry in `dir I found that the strange
indentation type texinfo uses opposite to the other packages has been kept.
The newcomer's restricted insight could not find any reason why indentation
should not be more nice and less confusing. After a successful trial with `info
file `texinfo I have reformatted `texinfo.txi (without touching the wording)
to include it here as a proposal; please see the diff output attached below.
Now, the menue entry's second part lacks the trailing period. That seems to be
harmless. Is it? (The documentation does not report on its importance.)
Is there a convention to start the entry's third part ("description") at column
32? Most but unfortunately not all packages do so.

Dietrich Alker
